Medical information about you needs to be available to all the clinical members of our primary health care team who treat you.
Non clinical staff are only allowed to see medical information when necessary.
The "Welsh GP Record" is a summary of your GP record compiled by NHS Wales, which will let GPs and nurses working in A&E and your local Out of Hours Service see some basic information about your medical history. Click here to learn more about the Welsh GP Record.
The Local Health Board has a duty to make occasional administrative checks on practices, which involve seeing medical information. The person carrying out the check will be properly trained and authorised by the Board and will have a duty of confidentiality. They will only see that part of your record relevant to the checks being made.
In summary, a duty of confidentiality will apply to anyone given access to your records and you have a right to object to disclosure.

No information will be released without patient consent unless we are legally obliged to do so.
